Hello
Hi, I’m Jessica Day—founder of Spanish U, a family-run language hub based right here in Durham County. I launched Spanish U in 2017 to make Spanish accessible, fun, and empowering for learners of all ages. Since then, my husband Steven and I have built it into a full-service learning resource.
I hold a Master’s in Spanish from UNC Wilmington and a certificate in Speech-Language Pathology from UGA. With years of experience teaching both high school and college Spanish, I’m here to support independent learners, curious minds, and future global citizens. Whether you're looking for K-12 tutoring, private lessons, or online courses, I’ve got something for you—maybe even something you didn’t know you needed!

Mission
At Spanish U, our mission is to provide high-quality foreign language educational resources to marginalized and underserved communities. We strive to break down barriers to language access by offering culturally relevant, affordable, and flexible learning options for students of all ages. Through our courses, we aim to instill confidence, communication skills, and global awareness—empowering learners, especially from minority communities, to thrive as independent learners and future global leaders. We believe that language is not just a subject—it’s a life skill that opens doors to opportunity, connection, and transformation.
Vision
To build a vibrant community where educational resources—especially in language learning—are accessible to every independent learner, regardless of socioeconomic status, race, or gender. At Spanish U, we believe that language is a bridge to opportunity, and our vision is rooted in equity, empowerment, and global readiness for all.
